Today I took scissors to a pair of jeans. I now have shorts. (And they actually fit me! I know right, unheard of. And they are long enough to pass the dress code for Summit)
Cool! Rolling them up into a cuff like this works well.
Okay, here is my adventures in cutting and sewing account:
1. When I was a freshman in high school, I really liked a pair of slacks I had but they'd gotten too short... or my legs had grown too long. So, having seen it done by someone else, I cut the slacks at the knees, turned them inside out and sewed a 3" band of paisley (cool at the time... I think) material at that knee level. So, when I turned the slacks right-side-out, they actually looked pretty good on. That is the lion's share of my sewing experience. However...
2. The other, much more involved sewing project I did was in my 20s, when I fabricated a custom-fitted white canvas cover for my video camera. I was concerned that the camera would get too hot when doing shoots in direct sunlight. I theorized that a white cover with Velcro fasteners was the solution. So, I broke out our scissors and sewing machine and got to work. I wish I had a photo to share, because the camera cover turned out looking and functioning like something I might've bought at a specialty store!
I think that's it, but both forays into these endeavors were fun. Perhaps this at least partially explains why I enjoy your blog so much. :)
